MIDL: The MIDL is my modern interpretation of a road racing wheel. I call these "high volume" road wheels. No longer limited by rim brakes and 23mm tires or frames with clearance issues, I was able to open up the rim to 21mm internal and 28mm external for optimum tire fitment and aero benefits with a wider tire. Weight is very good for such a chunky, hooked rim at 1,420gr (DT 240) to 1,520gr (DT350).

The road bike market is evolving quickly with a shift to much larger tires across the spectrum of applications, but particularly in high speed, paved road riding and racing. I pulled the best characteristics of my road and gravel wheels and came up with a quiver-killer wheel that is a superior road racer for use with 25mm to 30mm wide tires with hooked beads allowing high pressure inflation (up to 120PSI). The depth, at 45mm, is what I would characterize as "mid depth". You could also call it Goldilocks. 

For 2021, rims are now constructed using graphene doped Toray T800 carbon fiber. Graphene doping is a new process using wherein a very small amount of graphene (under 2%) is added to the carbon matrix during processing. Scientific testing has demonstrated significant increases in strength and impact resistance results from the graphene doping process. Our testing has shown this to be true in practice, allowing pretty significant weight reductions in the rim construction.

During testing, everyone fell in love with the specs. They are extremely aero with a 23mm to 25mm front tire (which will measure 1-2mm wider on the rim) and roll really fast with excellent turn in when you lean the bike over as compared to a wider tire like a 28mm. Paired with a 25mm to 30mm rear tire you get excellent rear shock absorption and grip.  A 28mm Pro-One tire seats like a dream with a floor pump and still flows air very smoothly onto the wider profile rim at 30mm wide. A 30mm G-One Speed is a fantastic every day tire that allows you to ride fast on tarmac and carefree on dirt. A 38mm G-One All Around or Bite still fits nicely for flotation on gravel. From a build standpoint, the high volume rim is structurally superior and builds up really nicely, coming to tension very evenly during build for a super round (therefore fast) wheel.
